Nor Cal Bears Go National

The Nor Cal Bears team started in the summer of 2020 after most clubs and other field hockey sports opportunities closed down due to COVID.  Stryker Club President, Willie Yglesias, wanted to get this team going to allow players from all over Northern California to have opportunities to play and be seen at the national level.  This team is actually a group of players from a variety of clubs including Infinity, Davis, Stryker, East Bay, Lightning, Impact, Fly and more.  Nor Cal Bears have taken teams to Festival, Disney (where the U16 won their division in 2020) and continue to inform players of more opportunities for camps and clinics to be seen by college coaches.

The "modern" version of this team was started in 2020, however Nor Cal Bears (not known as Bears at this point) took a U14 team to British Columbia, Canada in 2014 and a U16 National Festival team in 2017 with several of those players going on to play at the collegiate level.
