Stryker Field Hockey Offers Indoor Sessions to Local Players

By Stryker Staff 12/22/2021, 1:00pm PST

Winter Indoor Session Registration OPEN

Stryker Field Hockey is sponsoring a Winter Indoor Season which will be on Mondays from 8-9 p.m. at the Silver Creek Sports Plex.  This is aimed to high school level players and will be primarily game play after some short warm-ups.  Playing on indoor surfaces is much faster and allows more practice having to make quick decisions.  You can see the indoor information and registration info on our HOME page.

Nor Cal Bears Go National

The Nor Cal Bears team started in the summer of 2020 after most clubs and other field hockey sports opportunities closed down due to COVID.  Stryker Club President, Willie Yglesias, wanted to get this team going to allow players from all over Northern California to have opportunities to play and be seen at the national level.  This team is actually a group of players from a variety of clubs including Infinity, Davis, Stryker, East Bay, Lightning, Impact, Fly and more.  Nor Cal Bears have taken teams to Festival, Disney (where the U16 won their division in 2020) and continue to inform players of more opportunities for camps and clinics to be seen by college coaches.

The "modern" version of this team was started in 2020, however Nor Cal Bears (not known as Bears at this point) took a U14 team to British Columbia, Canada in 2014 and a U16 National Festival team in 2017 with several of those players going on to play at the collegiate level.

Stryker Field Hockey Expands to the East Bay

Stryker East Bay Spring Registration is OPEN

Stryker Field Hockey Club's main aim is to grow the game of field hockey.  In 2020, they added Stryker East Shore under their umbrella to allow players from the East Bay to be exposed to the sport.  Under Associate Club Director Jessica Hendricks the season got off to a great start supporting both u19 and U16 level teams.  Then COVID hit and the season and this new section was closed down.  This year Stryker is reopening the East Shore Section and working to add players to the club.  Practices are located at Berkeley High School from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  The registration page is open and we will post all of the dates once they are finalized.  Grab a friend or two and join Stryker East Bay.
